This Call addresses all members of the ELINET Association and external experts to contribute to our Annual Topic 2020-2021: Enhancing digital literacy skills in early and primary years’ education. You can download this call here. We also kindly ask you also to spread this call within your regional and national networks
We are looking for co-authors who will contribute to the two main outcomes of our project:

  1. European Framework of good practice in enhancing digital literacy skills in early and primary years’ education”
  2. European policy paper as a short summary of the Framework (similar to ELINET’s European Literacy Declaration), both addressing policymakers, practitioners and other stakeholders in this field.

Both papers shall contain research-based recommendations for educating pre-school and primary school children to become digitally literate citizens.… Read the rest

Elinet supports the UNESCO International Literacy Prices Call for nominations and invites you to submit nominations for this year’s edition of the Prizes in English or French by 12 July 2020 at the very latest.

UNESCO is honoured to launch the call for nominations for the 2020 edition of the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes, on the theme “Teaching and learning literacy: The role of educators and changing pedagogies”. This theme is all the more relevant given the exceptional circumstances we are currently facing: to ensure the continuity of education for the duration of this pandemic, we are using innovative remote learning solutions on an unprecedented scale. European Conference on Literacy, Dublin July 4-6 2022

The 22nd  European Conference on Literacy and the 46th Annual Conference, which is jointly organised by the Federation of European Literacy Associations and The Literacy Association of Ireland, has been postponed due to COVID-19 until 2022. The Conference will now take place in Dublin, Ireland from July 4th to July 6th, 2022, alongside the 46th Annual Conference of the Literacy Association of Ireland.

You can submit proposals. For submitting proposals go here. 

  • The deadline for submitting proposals is November 30th, 2021
  • Acceptance letters will be sent out before January 31st, 2022
  • Early Bird registration will open on February 7th 2022 and will close on April 30th, 2022.

The Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture organized a one-day conference PISA and Beyond building on the publication of the new PISA results. The conference took place in Helsinki on December 9, 2019. The conference aimed to present the new PISA results and discuss what we can learn from them. Most of the participants came from European ministries and other governmental agencies.

OECD senior analyst Miyako Ikeda summarized the main results in PISA 2018. She pointed out that there have been no big changes in the OECD average for reading over the years while the spending on education has increased by at least 15 % during last 10 years. Top performers in reading in PISA 2018 come from economies in China and from Singapore.… Read the rest

ELINET’s Annual Topic 2020: “Enhancing Digital Literacy Skills: Good Practices for Early and Primary Years Education”
at the 4th Baltic Sea Conference on Literacy in Tallinn on January 18, 2020, from 11.30 to 17.30!

This CALL addresses all members of the ELINET Association and external experts to contribute to our Annual Topic (above).
We want to collect, exchange and analyze research and good practice examples on this topic – especially projects, reports and examples which are only available in national languages and need to be translated into English in order to reach out to the international community of literacy experts, researchers and practitioners.
This exchange will mainly be carried out by online media – our website, skype conferences, webinars – and shall lead to create a policy paper (position statement) addressing policymakers, practitioners and other stakeholders in this field.… Read the rest

Update: The Conference Making Sense of History scheduled for June 4-5, 2020 has been cancelled due to Covid-19.

Conference Making sense of history invites researchers, graduate students and practitioners interested in the pedagogy of history to submit proposals that address the learning and teaching history in schools, universities, and, more generally, society. The topics include (but are not limited to) historical thinking, skill-based history teaching, and disciplinary literacies in history.
