This spring, starting on 15 May, ELINET will bring to you a series of three webinars of interest to teachers, teacher educators and anybody interested in educating young students for digital literacy.

Our presenters are all researchers and educators who have developed research-based, high-quality, open-access materials and resources for digital literacy education. Fortunately, this year we will finally again be able to organize a face-to-face meeting during the European Literacy Conference in Dublin. Conference Digital literacy and strategies for digital inclusion, Zagreb, Croatia,

The Croatian Reading Association (CroRa) is a national association that promotes literacy and holds an annual professional conference on September 8, date of the International literacy day. Goal of the conference is to gather professionals and initiate discussions in Croatian society on literacy and the importance of reading.

Jeroen Clemens will represent Elinet and give a presentation as a special guest.

The 37th Conference of Applied Language Studies, Education for Social Justice Conference will take place completely online on June 1-3, 2021 in Jyväskylä, Finland. Join the conference and register on the Conference website.

Update: We did it. The first day of the conference was wonderful. If you were not able to participate online, fore a while (don’t know how long) you can (re)view the keynotes HERE. (1) Colin Harrison starting at -2.40 min., (2) Bill Brozo at -1.48 and (3) Jeroen Clemens at -43 (strange timetable, but you’ll find it this way)

On November, 19, Bill Brozo and Jeroen Clemens, board members of ELINET will provide keynotes on the conference of The Reading Association of Russia in Moscow. Because of the COVID-19, it will be through a video-presentation.

European Conference on Literacy, Dublin July 4-6 2022

The 22^nd European Conference on Literacy and the 46th Annual Conference, which is jointly organised by the Federation of European Literacy Associations and The Literacy Association of Ireland, has been postponed due to COVID-19 until 2022. The Conference will now take place in Dublin, Ireland from July 4^th to July 6^th, 2022, alongside the 46^th Annual Conference of the Literacy Association of Ireland.

You can submit proposals. For submitting proposals go here.

The deadline for submitting proposals is November 30^th, 2021
Acceptance letters will be sent out before January 31^st, 2022
Early Bird registration will open on February 7^th 2022 and will close on April 30^th, 2022.

The Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture organized a one-day conference PISA and Beyond building on the publication of the new PISA results. The conference took place in Helsinki on December 9, 2019. The conference aimed to present the new PISA results and discuss what we can learn from them. Most of the participants came from European ministries and other governmental agencies.

OECD senior analyst Miyako Ikeda summarized the main results in PISA 2018. She pointed out that there have been no big changes in the OECD average for reading over the years while the spending on education has increased by at least 15 % during last 10 years. Top performers in reading in PISA 2018 come from economies in China and from Singapore.… Read the rest
