Fields of expertise
My research focuses on different perspectives of readership: the readership of teachers, pre-service teachers and children of different ages.
I am interested in supporting the families in reading, the multilingual practices in literature education and different holistic and arts-based approaches to literature education especially in early years’ education. A special interest area of mine is children’s humour in different contexts.
Currently, I am involved in in-service projects for multilingual education as well as reading for pleasure. Together with Merja Kauppinen (University of Jyväskylä) I have developed a research-based approach to literature education: StoRe (Stories make Readers). Finnish webpages: www.utu.fi/iki-taru
