Bill Brozo & Sari Sulkunen What Should We Make of the Overall Narrowing of the Gender Gap in Reading Literacy on PISA 2018?

In previous posts, broad-level findings from PISA 2018 have been presented and analyzed.  In this post, we focus more narrowly on patterns of gender performance in reading literacy.

This Call addresses experts to contribute to our Annual Topic 2020-2021: Enhancing digital literacy skills in early and primary years’ education. We are looking for good practice examples for three age groups: 0-3 years, 3-6 years, and 6-10 years.

• Submit: You can submit your project descriptions using an online form in the following languages: Deutsch, English, Italiano, Magyar, Nederlands, Português, Español, Türkçe. Other versions will be available soon.

Conference Making sense of history invites researchers, graduate students and practitioners interested in the pedagogy of history to submit proposals that address the learning and teaching history in schools, universities, and, more generally, society. The topics include (but are not limited to) historical thinking, skill-based history teaching, and disciplinary literacies in history.

Update The Language Education for Social Justice conference that was scheduled for June 2020 has been postponed due to Covid-19. The conference will take place from June 1-3, 2021 in Jyväskylä, Finland. All accepted papers, colloquia, workshops, roundtable discussions and rants will stay accepted, unless the participants prefer to cancel their presentation.
