PISA and Beyond Conference explores new PISA 2018 results

The Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture has organised a conference building on the publication of the new PISA results in Helsinki on December 9th, 2019. See the report from Sari Sulkunen, board member Elinet. 

The conference is called PISA and Beyond, and it aims to present the new PISA results and analyze what can be learnt from them. In the one-day conference OECD representatives as well as researchers working with PISA will present PISA results, with the special focus on literacy, inclusion and quality of teacher education.
Sari Sulkunen who has been a member in the PISA 2018 Reading Expert Group has represented ELINET.

The conference was invitation-based and it is organized on the behalf of Finland‘s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The 4th Baltic Sea Conference on Literacy will take place 16-21 January, 2020 in Tallinn, Estonia. During the Baltic Sea Conference Elinet will held a General Assembly on Saturday. Please join us. 

The conference “Searching for a Common Language” is focused on actual themes of literacy and multilingual education:

  • early literacy and intervention
  • literacy teachers and instruction
  • digital competences and literacy
  • literacy environments and libraries
  • equal access to literacy and support to students with special needs
  • lifelong development of literacy skills

‘Reading changes life’–  this is the title of the  World Literacy Summit, one of the largest world gatherings of  international literacy and education specialists,  held at Oxford University (UK) from April 5-8, 2020.

The Oxford Summit 2020 brings together 600 delegates among them NGO leaders, researchers, teachers, faculty members, librarians and the learners themselves from 85 countries (more than two thirds of the world) and 40.000 webinar users.
ELINET will be represented by Dorothee Gaile, Germany, ELINET member and expert for adolescent and disciplinary literacy.
